The Art of the Day is: holiday shopping
It is of course an art for amateurs. True shoppers have done their holiday shopping months ago, or at least on line, and wouldn't go near box stores or malls any more than they would consciously seek out Christmas music. There is an element of Humbug here. Being Jewish will do that to you, but it is especially fierce this year. I'm guessing it has something to do with Chanukah being over (that Nationalistic little holiday that people assume or try to convince themselves is like Christmas), that Christians, who have heard the inclusive Chanukah song in their children's school recitals, feel free to just take over. Maybe we'll all feel better when Kwanza starts, and hey, isn't it an Islamic holiday too?
Yes, Virginia, this really was a blog about Holiday shopping.

The Art of the Day is: Ennui
Floating, not sharply through bright thoughts and sad thoughts. Neither happy or unhappy. Waiting for something to move me one way or another. Not quite. I'm looking to move, but buoyant enough not to go under, not to go anywhere dangerous. Exciting, maybe, dangerous, no.
Self preservation intact, looking forward.
