My niece and I (not the niece who thinks Nice is nice, but her sister) went to the Peabody Essex Museum to see the Joseph Cornell exhibit before it closed.
I wanted to go because I remember his work as being reliquary-like. The exhibit we saw was more about his collage work, and the shadowboxes where lighter than I remembered, and more theatrical. Much of his work looked very modern (he died in 1972), because of the repetitive images, and the juxtaposing of images which all seem very easy to produce in photoshop, but of course were produced pre-photoshop.
The Art of the Day is: Collage
